Promise Gala 2020
Saturday, November 14, 2020

At JDRF, we understand that the past six months have been unlike anything our organization, or community, has ever seen. Even in the wake of a global pandemic and the Iowa derecho, we find comfort knowing that no matter what, this amazing community will continue to move JDRF’s mission forward for everyone living with T1D.

For the safety of our guests, staff, and community at large, we have reimagined the 2020 event and will present the 18th Annual Promise Gala on Saturday, November 14. We have created an exciting in-home dining experience with several options for participation. This new date not only allows for time to recover from the unprecedented and unexpected storm, but also celebrates World Diabetes Day.

Last year's JDRF Promise Gala raised a record breaking $459,000 for T1D research. Although this year's event may look different, we know that together, even from our homes, we can continue to break records for the millions living with T1D. The Power of Us Promise Gala will be a special celebration with family, friends, and loved ones.

Whether you're interested in hosting an in-home Power of Us Party for your inner circle of your closest friends, or you prefer to enjoy the evening with just your significant other, we have options for all comfort levels!

What is included in the "Power of Us" Party?

  • Unique Promise Gala experience, delivered to host's home
  • Specially curated charcuterie platter, customized to your party size
  • End of evening bottle of bubbly
  • Delightful dessert created exclusively for this year's event
  • $100 tax-deductible donation to JDRF per "ticket" purchase

JDRF highly encourages covid responsibility when hosting anyone in your home, even if you see them frequently. Below are some practices you may like to implement:

-hand sanitizer stations at entry door and near food serving areas with signage asking guests to sanitize hands
-encourage guests to wear masks when not specifically eating or drinking
-stay 6 feet apart when wearing a mask is not possible
-provide drinks in large vessels with one person assigned to serving so as not to have many hands on different surfaces
-space out seating areas where possible
-if weather permits, consider hosting outside, or provide a combination of indoor/outdoor party space
-make available many garbage receptacles so individuals are able to dispose of their own trash
